The bee and butterfly are partnered with the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust and the orangutan to the Sumatran Orangutan Society so join us in helping to save species.
bit about me
Hi, I’m Katie Carr, mum of two (Tommy & Lottie) who inspired me to start the business. I live in St Albans, Hertfordshire with my partner and our three children Tommy, Lottie and Bevan our cheeky terrier.
I spent my childhood in nature as I grew up in rural East Sussex and spent a lot of my time outside. My parents taught me a lot about wildlife and how important it is to respect it for a healthy environment and our happiness.
My previous background was in retail and marketing as I started my career at Harrods as a retail and business trainee, working throughout the store gaining experience, it also taught me about quality products and the highest level of customer service. I then went on an worked for Woolworths Head Office as a buyer and then as a Product Manager for EE. I also love to draw and all of the tommy & lottie designs are hand drawn by me and my Dad is a graphic designer which comes in very handy, thanks Dad!
I love quality, I’d much rather spend that bit more for something that lasts and has meaning than something that is cheap and disposable which is where my idea for tommy & lottie came from. I am very passionate about the environment and wildlife which is why it is so important to me to only produce good quality products from start to finish that come from a honest place where people who make them are treated fairly whether this is in the UK or in other parts of the world. Wild animal designs are particularly my passion as they are so important for us to protect now and for the future and through my brand I have been able to make a difference by helping to save species, raising awareness and educating people about critically endangered species such as orangutans in Sumatra.
I think its important to be transparent and show our customers how the clothing is made so we approached the local Oaklands College and two students designed and produced two animations which both my two children Tommy and Lottie narrated. The students got to use the animations on their CV’s and we got two wonderful animations for tommy & lottie
Get in touch I’d love to hear from you and I’m always open to new ideas, collaborations or just a chat! info@tommyandlottie.com
